The April 8th presentation at YCD was organized by Nanaimo Flight Services Supervisor Thomas Murphy with the support of the Nanaimo Regional Airport. Over 90 pilots attended the event and were treated to BBQ lunch and a series of presentations aimed at improving aviation safety and fulfilling the bi-annual regency requirements.
One of the highlights of the day was a lunch hour keynote address by the Deputy Commanding Office of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. Major Yanick “Crank” Gregoire gave a very in depth talk about some of what happens in the background to make the Snowbirds a success. He focussed on systems that have been put in place to ensure that the inherent risks of airshow flying are mitigated and he shared his thoughts on the importance of setting goals both in life and in the cockpit and achieving them.
The seminar was by all accounts a huge success and we look forward to the next seminar in Victoria on April 29th. There is still space available for the Victoria session and you can register on the www.prepair.ca website.
There are other Rust Remover pilot seminars happening including:
Abbotsford – April 22nd
