BC Coast 99’s Poker Run Report

Submitted By: Teena Della

The BC Coast 99s annual Poker Run scholarship fundraiser was a great success this past Sunday in the sunshine. There were 27 aircraft with 53 poker players who purchased 254 hands. The furthest aircraft was from YYF Penticton, BC.
Pilots could choose five of nine airports from all over the South West of BC including Victoria, Nanaimo, Squamish, Boundary Bay, Delta Airpark, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Langley, and the terminus Pitt Meadows. At each stop participants draw cards for their hands, hoping to get that elusive royal flush.

There were almost 50 prizes from our generous donors – see http://bccoast99s.com/prizes – so most participants had the fun of winning something. As well, Coast Dog Aviation offered an annual inspection up for silent auction. The highest bid doubled our income for the day – our scholarship fund got a great boost from the generosity of all involved.

Thank you so much to everyone: donors, airports, participants, the AeroClub of BC, and the ladies of the 99s who organized the fun event.
