What is your occupation?
Sales Admin
What is your home airport?
Victoria International
What year did you start flying?
2017
Where did you learn to fly?
Victoria Flying Club
Why did you start flying?
I started flying because I have always loved it. It started with a airshow in Victoria (gosh, how long ago was that…), progressed to flight simulation computer games, I became fascinated with the first few decades of flight (Spitfires, anyone?), and finally started in earnest when I convinced myself that I can make a career of it.
What airplane did you learn to fly in?
Cessna 172S
What airplane do you fly now?
Cessna 172S, 172C; anything I can get PIC time in.
What is your favorite kind of flying or place to fly to?
I split fascination between scenic cruises and bush flying. I have yet to experience much of the latter, but FlightChops’ videos with some of the BCGA crew convinced me that, especially in a province like BC, you simply need to get out into the woods and gravel bars and lakes and beaches and mountains. I love flying around Vancouver Island because of that same variation; from cities to beaches to mountains to lakes and everything between.
What is your favorite feature on the BCGA website?
The airstrip and restaurant maps.Trip Reports are also super useful for a low-hour pilot like me.
In a few words describe what the BCGA is to you:
Learning, experience, community.
What other aviation organizations / clubs are you affiliated with?
Victoria Flying Club.
Other interests:
Target shooting, motorsports, 1910’s to 40’s era of aricraft
Anything else you would like to share with your fellow members:
Let me know if you want to fly or just want to meet for lunch (or pie)! I’m only just barely on the path to my CPL (less than 20 hours PIC), I want to learn from others, and I like flying with someone in the other seat(s). Every one of you have unique experiences and knowledge, so I’d love to talk and fly with every single member if I have the chance to.
