BCGA Member and COPA Director, Tim Cole sent us this document outlining VFR arrival & departure procedures in Victoria (CYYJ). Victoria can be a tricky and intimidating place to fly into for those that are unfamiliar. The airport is host to a large mix of traffic both IFR and VFR. This procedures are designed to aid in flowing traffic to and from the airport and when done correctly can significantly reduce frequency congestion.
Please take a moment to review these procedures. For the most up to date information please refer to the CFS or the back of the Vancouver VTA map. As always if you are still unfamiliar just ask ATC. As long as you have made an effort to learn the procedure pre-flight there is no shame in asking for help.
