Dear Members, (Over 215 Total)

We know that we have been very quiet for the past few months. We have been working feverishly to become registered as an official Society so that we can take the next step in becoming a Not For Profit Society.

We had a few hurdles to overcome most importantly our name. As I am sure some of you may have guessed our name was in conflict with the British Columbia Aviation Council.

We are pleased to announce that with the cooperation of the BC Aviation Council, the BC Registry and Protocol BC we can finally announce our new official name and begin moving forward with the ambitious tasks that we have planned.

Our Official Name is the: BRITISH COLUMBIA GENERAL AVIATION ASSOCIATION.

Many of you have membership cards that say BC Aviation Association. This is fine, please keep these cards and continue to use them. We will issue new cards on their expiration date and moving forward will be changing our material to include the word GENERAL.

The slight amendment to the name is just a formality to enable us to move forward in serving our members in an official capacity.

The next step is to form a board of directors and hold a general meeting which will be scheduled for sometime in January. Our intent is to form a board that is representative of the various regions of the Province. Furthermore, we will try to have our meeting accessible via video link or conference call to all those members that may not be able to attend in person. At the meeting we will be voting on a board of directors as well as a constitution and discussing where we would like to go as on organization.

We are very pleased to be able to make this announcement and are as motivated as ever to begin the work of furthering General Aviation in British Columbia.

If you would like to help us lead the way either as a board member or in some other less official capacity please let us know. We cannot do this alone and we look forward to all of our member’s input in bettering both the Association and the community as a whole.

Respectfully and Humbly Yours,

Ryan Van Haren & Ken Wardstrom
